by Macon County Health Department

Macon County currently remains at 1 active positive case of COVID-19 and 1 recovered case of COVID-19.

COVID-19 is affecting all age groups in Missouri, no one age population is immune or invincible to this virus. Unfortunately, those 60 years of age and older are one of our most vulnerable populations with the majority of deaths from COVID-19.

Attached are two graphs showing how these vulnerable populations are affected – one showing cases by age in Missouri and one showing deaths by age in Missouri.

We all must work to protect ourselves and those most vulnerable to complications. Social distancing helps us from contracting COVID-19, but it also helps those most at risk from catching it from us.

Also attached is information about symptoms of COVID-19. With such a new virus, research and information always being released and updated. As we learn more about COVID-19, more symptoms have been discovered.

The CDC states someone infected with COVID-19 may have cough and shortness of breath or at least two other symptoms. Symptoms will begin to develop 2-14 days after being infected, ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness.
